Founded in 2005, Island Knits is the premier knitting supplies and instruction venue on Long Beach Island in New Jersey. Owned by Linda Kelly, you will usually find her in the store giving a lesson or helping a customer with their knitting project. Linda started knitting at the age of six and has been an avid knitter ever since. She loves learning new techniques and helping customers learn them as well to create yet another fun, hand made item to wear or give as a gift.
Linda carries beautiful quality yarns, patterns and knitting supplies. If you are looking for something that she doesn’t have, she can usually order it and is happy to ship it to you as well. While the Island is a summer resort destination, Island Knits operates year-round so you know you will always be able to get what you need from Linda’s shop or on-line. Linda runs classes year-round for your group or individual needs and interests. Her regular classes include:
- Kids ages 6-12 will learn basic knitting techniques
For adults and teens Linda runs the following specialty classes:
- Dishcloths as a good beginner project
- Cable techniques
- Fairisle patterns and color changing techniques
- Socks
- Felting
- Christmas stockings
